The Life & Work of Knox Church
We are a Christian community seeking to grow in knowledge of Jesus Christ and to live our lives as he teaches us. As part of our efforts to honour our First Nations sisters and brothers, we acknowledge the Algonquin First Nations people, upon whose traditional and unceded territory Knox Church resides. |
Worship & Reflection
Sunday Worship: This weekend's worship service theme is Immanuel in Lent, based on readings from Isaiah 43:1-7 and Hebrews 2:5-18. While "Immanuel" is a word (and name!) often heard during Advent and Christmas, could it's meaning be even more significant for the season of Lent? Join us Sunday morning to explore the importance of Immanuel during Lent! For those joining the service on-line, the livestream begins @ 10:20 a.m HERE. Worship services are also archived on our YouTube Channel (Knox Ottawa) and on our website (HERE). A copy of the liturgy can be found at the end of this newsletter. Children and Youth: Children and youth are invited to join in Bible-based exploration and activities, and parents and grandparents are welcome to have fun with us too! All will participate in worship in the sanctuary until Children’s Time, then exit via the side door for Sunday School. If you have questions about Knox Sunday School, or would like to get involved, please contact knoxsundayschoolottawa@gmail.com. If needed, a nursery on the lower level of the church, and a quiet room at the back of the sanctuary with a rocking chair, sink and toys are available for parents with babies and young children. The service can be heard from both places: in the quiet room through speakers in the narthex, and in the nursery with wifi access to the live streamed service. Everyone is also very welcome in the sanctuary. Please ask if there is anything you need. Bible Study: The next weekly, hybrid Bible Study is Wednesday, April 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. We will continue the study of the Old Testament prophecy of Zechariah. To join for the first time, in person or online, send an email to pastor.jim.pot@rogers.com. Prayer & Meditation: The church is open on Wednesdays, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, for prayers, meditation, and to allow the community an opportunity to enjoy our sanctuary. College & Careers: Join us next Wednesday evening, April 9th, at 7 pm in the Parlour for our video series Reason for God. Enter through the Garden Courtyard door. Holy Week Worship: Make plans now to join us for the following worship services during Holy Week: Palm Sunday, April 13th @ 10:30 AM; Maundy Thursday Worship & Communion, April 17th @ 7:30 PM; Good Friday Service, April 18th @ 10:30 AM; Easter Sunday Worship, April 20th @ 10:30 AM. Jazz Vespers: Join us for the next Jezz Vespers on Wednsday, April 16th. Musical guests will be The London Trio Plus. |

Office Hours & Announcements: Next week, Marianne will be in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm. She works from home on Tuesday and Friday mornings. If you have an announcement for the bulletin/newsletter, please forward it to knoxottawa@rogers.com before 9 am on Wednesday. Thank you. Reminder: When using unnumbered offering envelopes, please remember to include either your name or envelope number on the front on your envelope. This will ensure proper allocation of your donation. Thank you! Mailboxes and Nametags in Geneva Hall: Mailboxes for those who attend Knox in person are located on the north side of Geneva Hall. For privacy reasons, the boxes are numbered. Each Sunday a list in alphabetical order by family name, showing box numbers, is placed on the desk in front of the mailboxes. (Please note: this is a mailbox number only; there are no changes to envelope numbers for donations to Knox.) Nametags to wear at coffee hour and other events can be left in your mailbox for safekeeping. If you would like a Knox nametag, or if we missed giving you a mailbox, please write your name on the list in front of the boxes. |
