Knox Church, 227 Elgin Street, Ottawa, announced that it is sponsoring a new series of educational talks and discussions, on the theme of "Gospel Centred Mission for the City Centre". The presentations will focus on issues facing downtown religious organizations including their relevance today, how they meet the needs of their community, what they contribute to the community and how they can adapt to changes in needs and perceptions.
Featuring noted speakers such as Mark Whittall, minister at St Albans Anglican church, Tom Sherwood, former chaplain at Carleton University, Ray Pennings, one of the founders of Halo Cities Research, a Christian think-tank, and Ken MacLaren, executive director of Ottawa Innercity Ministries, these promise to be informative and challenging discussions.
Dates and times are: October 19, 7:30 at Knox (Whittall); November 2, 7 PM at Glebe Community Centre-175 Third Avenue (Sherwood); November 16 and 30, 7:30 PM at Knox (Pennings and MacLaren)
