Caring is something we are all called to do. Jesus’s answer for the most important commandment is to fully love God, but the second is to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). It may be difficult in these separated and distant times to find ways to do so, but this week's lesson looks at what caring for those around us means.
This week we will be discussing the parable of the sheep and of the goats from Matthew 25:31-46. At the end of time, Jesus sets aside two groups one on his right and one on his left. To one he says that they cared for Him in different ways because they cared for the least among them. To the other group, He says that they did not care for Him because they ignored the needs around them. The lesson urges us to discuss what it means to care about others based on Jesus’ teaching, and the ways in which we can care for others even in our current circumstances.
