The induction will be conducted on November 6, 2011 at 4pm by the Presbytery of Ottawa with music provided by D. Mervyn Games and the Knox Church Choir. Members of the congregation and the public are welcome to attend this significant moment in the history of Knox, one of Ottawa’s most prestigious downtown churches.

The Annual Ecumenical Day of Sharing and Reflection will be on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 9am – 12noon at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Dr. at Cunningham Ave. 613-733-3156. Registration is $5. The Day of Sharing and Reflection is open to all interested persons.

As the weather turns colder, our minds turn to preparing to serve our guests at Knox’s Out of the Cold dinners from November to March. Whether you are interested in helping to prepare the meal or to serve and clean up, this is a rewarding opportunity, requiring only a few hours monthly.

There are tables with Home baking (it goes fast!!) – Home-made jams and jellies –– jewelry, linens, collectibles – a handyperson’s table – Christmas decorations – and of course, a roomful of used books – there may even be rare and antique books! Midweek Communion begins again this Wednesday, Oct. 12. Rev. David Thom will lead a short service of Holy Communion in the Chancel each Wednesday at 12:10 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Do you have time after church one or two Sundays a month to help count and record the offering? The Knox Counting Team is a fun group of dedicated individuals who try to rotate counting duties after worship on Sundays. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Janice Ruppenthal.

On Saturday Oct. 22nd. The Education Event, Hope for the Girl Child will be held at 1376 Bank St., Unit 100 from 9:30am-12:30pm. Cost is $25 advance or $40 at the door.
